I always felt a connection to the story of Christ but it was not until I was in my late 30s before I was born again. Thanks to my best friend and her husband, long time Evangelistic Believers who never gave up on me, my eyes, ears and most importantly my heart opened to Jesus. My faith kept me balanced and from succumbing into a self-pity mire many times. My first Pastor, Bev Ward, was a very knowledgeable leader and I was thirsty for the Truth. He taught me the power of the Word and the joy of simple faith. What a blessing for a single mother with a stressful job!
It is not always easy, in our secular world, to stay grounded in faith. I have learned the importance of worship, fellowship, and sharing my beliefs. When I moved to the Sunshine Coast, I feared not finding the same connection I had in North Vancouver. A new friend at the time suggested I join her at her church, CLA, and since 2002 I have been blessed to call it Home.
I am starting a second opportunity to serve on the CLA Board having completed one term two years ago. I am pleased to be able to give back to the congregation and to help the Pastor and staff. The Lord did not rest after He Saved me but rather constantly holds me in His loving arms. It is the least I can do to serve His church in a small way.
Walking with Christ, and yes, stumbling often, I continue to learn and the more I do, the more I know how blessed I am! And my blessing? My dear friends have recently moved to the Coast and are now attending CLA - - and I am going on a long cruise with the friend who introduced me to this congregation! God is good!
